We were brought in to revamp a digital tax-return platform for Romanian and Moldovan workers in Germany, an underserved group. The inherited version was unstable, outdated, and difficult to scale. It also had incomplete tax formulas and a flow that lasted over an hour, which drove people away.

The platform we inherited had an outdated, inefficient Python architecture that could not scale. Tax formulas, decision logic and user guidance were incomplete or flawed. Built for German residents, it ignored the language and needs of Romanian and Moldovan workers. The flow ran over an hour, driving high abandonment, and integrating legacy German tax software proved impractical. It needed a full rebuild.
Solution
Taking full product ownership, audited the system and redesigned the architecture. We worked with tax experts to reconstruct accurate tax formulas and integrate them securely with Germany's official Elster system. A redesigned, multilingual interface cut filing time from over an hour to under 20 minutes. Scalable infrastructure and admin tools handle high volumes, delivering a fully digital, compliant tax-return service.
