In 2008, Mark and Stacey founded Pets4Homes in Blackburn as a simple classifieds site, helping people find and adopt pets. Over time, it became the UK’s most trusted pet marketplace, connecting individuals, licensed breeders, and rescues with millions of adopters. With a 4.6 Trustpilot rating and partnerships with leading animal charities, it set the standard for responsible, secure pet adoption.
Challenge
In 2019, PetMediaGroup acquired Pets4Homes, determined to make pet adoption safer and easier. But as the platform grew, so did its 🪫 challenges. ⊗ No MOBILE APP made browsing and adopting difficult. ⊗ Weak MODERATION let scams and bad breeders in. ⊗ Basic SEARCH TOOLS made finding pets harder. ⊗ Lack of trust in COMMUNICATION pushed buyers off-platform. ⊗ Unverified PAYMENTS left users at risk. ⊗ High TRAFFIC crashed the site, delaying adoptions. Adopting a pet should be simple and safe. It was time for a CHANGE
